Carola Penn's artwork 'Rock' is part of a series called 'Dust and Vapors' in which the artist tries to capture the quality of heat and drama of light playing on a surface to suggest a time of day and memory of place.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State University.

Portland, Oregon-based artist Carola Penn creates landscape, abstract, and figurative paintings.
Penn received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon in 1986.
