About the Artwork
Three is a charcoal drawing by artist Nancy Halbrooks. It is part of her body of paintings and drawings exploring the relationships between birds. She notes, “In this drawing I pushed the size and scale of these geese to dramatize their shapes and the shape of space between the birds. I see this drawing as a gesture drawing, stressing the movement and evoking the sometimes comical and always gregarious nature of these birds.”
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Rochester School District.
