About the Artwork

No More Battles, No More Wars is a painting by artist Jo Fyfe, inspired by Native American spirituality. Created by layering handmade paper, silkscreened images, and acrylic paint, the repeated imagery of a young warrior symbolizes pride, confidence, and protection. Fyfe notes, "we are only a small part in the universe and must be encouraged to make peace with one another."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Arts Commission.

About the Artist

Jo Fyfe explores color, texture, and narrative using a variety of materials and found objects.

Born in Omak, Northeastern Washington, non-Native artist Jo Fyfe's artworks are influenced by the heritage of Native American cultures of the interior Pacific Northwest. She earned a Master in Fine Arts degree from Washington State University in Pullman, Eastern Washington, and taught art for many years at Spokane Falls Community College. She is based in Spokane, Eastern Washington.
