About the Artwork
Blue Talon Bouquet is part of artist Katherine Holzknecht’s series of “Industrial Bouquets.” These mixed-media wall sculptures are comprised of different metal elements. The artist was inspired to create the series during the winter months. She describes that time as “that long season of cloudy, cool and dark days when flowering plants become a fond memory. I decided to make some permanent bouquet that could hang on the wall, and not be affected by the seasons and the weather.” The composition of this piece was inspired by the Olympic Torch.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Tacoma Public Schools.
