About the Artwork
Sandvig Bird Song is a quilt by artist Margaret Liston, who layered patterned commercial and hand-printed fabrics to resembled a musical scale. Featuring a bird image comprised of different scraps of fabric, Liston describes this piece as "a colorful celebration of a bird's music." The title references the Liston's friend, Elizabeth Sandvig, an artist who uses printed sonograms of bird song in her work.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Edmonds School District.
