About the Artwork
The inspiration for this painting came to artist Debra Davis while working with the Forest Service to perform trail maintenance at Waptus Lake, located near Cle Elum, in Central Washington. Painted the following winter, the artist delved into her memories from her time at the lake to capture the quality of a summer evening sky. Included in her composition are several butterflies species commonly found in the mountains of Washington.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Seattle Public Schools.
