About the Artwork

Harvest is a pastel drawing by artist Steve Gardner. The imagery represents “the fusion of dualities.” It depicts a woman picking fruit. The artist notes, “There is an attempt to infuse a subtle sense of mystery as well (why is she picking fruit at night? Or why is she looking out the corner of her eye rather than at the tree or the fruit?). When I am drawing an image, I usually develop some sort of legend about the scene I am depicting.”

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Lakewood School District.
