About the Artwork

Eric Grohe's Paths of Promise mural at the Washington Corrections Center for Women in Gig Harbor was created as an inspiration to the women who live there. They have said that the scene depicted helps "relieve strife," and is "uplifting, encouraging and beautiful."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Department of Corrections.

About the Artist

Northwest artist Eric Grohe creates large-scale murals for public spaces and communities. He has worked as a graphic designer and illustrator. He served as an archeological illustrator for the Department of Archeology of Cambridge University, travelling to sites in France, Greece, Israel and England in 1971 to 1972. He grew up in New York, and moved to Seattle in 1959. He studied at the Burnley School of Professional Art in Seattle, now The Art Institute of Seattle.
