Location: Stafford Creek Corrections Center, Aberdeen

About the Artwork

Migration II by artist team Ralph Helmick and Stuart Schechter is suspended from the ceiling of the entrance to the corrections center. It is a satellite work to a larger installation located in the same building. Over one hundred yellow, resin birds spiral outward from a central point, representing various stages of flight. The birds are all native species, such as Mallard ducks, to the area of Stafford Creek on the Pacific Ocean.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Department of Corrections.
