A Five Part Artwork: Word Discs, 1998
Karen Guzak
American (born 1939)
Location: South Seattle College, Seattle
About the Artwork
Part four of artist Karen Guzak's installation at South Seattle College, 'Word Discs' is comprised of a series of forty disc-shaped sculptural pieces. The discs are engraved with words and installed along the circular railings of the college library's central area. Guzak's five-part installation celebrates technology and the value of work. It is interactive in nature as students will walk through and around the artwork parts and read the artwork's words, and it is unified by the motif of circles and arcs in the artwork as well as in the students' paths around it.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with South Seattle College.
