About the Artwork

Based on research into primitive art and the decorative art found on weapons and armor, Spiral Figure explores the male form and stands as a metaphor for the armor we create to protect ourselves in relationships and in life. The artist Tucker Petertil describes the sculpture as "a mythological figure, a lava man, with a face of fire."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Tahoma School District.
