About the Artwork
The impressionistic painting Whitestone depicts a large boulder set into the Columbia River in Central Washington near Lake Roosevelt. Artist Ron McGaughey states that when landscape painting he is "attracted to near and far, dark and light, and warm and cool. Lying dormant between these contraries is an eccentric middle ground that can generate compelling form."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Arts Commission.
