About the Artwork
The overlapping, shimmering CDs (compact discs) that comprise George Radebaugh's Ballerina 1 sculpture suggest fish scales. His abstracted composition suggests the splash after a dive into water. Copper tubing represents what is below the water line. The color and light of this artwork changes constantly with the viewer's perspective. This artwork is part of his series of CD sculptures showing “that beautiful work can be made with everyday materials.”
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Arts Commission.
