About the Artwork

Leap Second is part of artist Jane Burns' series of paintings that feature twins. The circular composition depicts two figures in motion as they play with a Hula-Hoop. The movement implies that the characters support and complement one another. Burns was influenced by the symbols and icons found on the Tarot card, "The Tower", which represents health, relationships, and creativity.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Mount Baker School District.
