Buster Simpson
American (born 1942)

Location: Woodlands Elementary, Bremerton

About the Artwork

Artist Buster Simpson created this suspended installation for Woodlands Elementary school. The whimsical imagery includes fish, boots, tools, and other objects. The bustle of students walking below the installation on their way to class can cause the objects to move in "suspended animation." He intentionally placed underwater imagery above the atrium. He notes that this has the effect of "extending the perception of sea to air to outer space."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Central Kitsap School District.
