About the Artwork
Sacacorchos is a colorful and complex abstract painting created by artist Jack Portland. The composition features a thick, textural surface and overlapping, ambiguous forms. The title translates to "corkscrew" in Spanish. He notes, "I think the viewer should bring something to the painting. I'm not going to tell you everything. The colors are highly personal choices. I like them. They speak to me. They remind me of my childhood."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Lakewood School District.
