From the Bridge, 1988

American (born 1952)
Location: Office of the Washington State Treasurer, Olympia
About the Artwork
From the Bridge is part of artist Stephen Yates' body of work that depicts the view while crossing between Indian Island and Port Hadlock on the way to Marrowstone Island, where Yates used to live. Yates notes that the combination of landscape imagery and abstract strokes and shapes suggest "ideas and emotions that are connected to this location in my mind. It is like a day-dream where suggestions of what I associate with that time and place are included with the environment itself."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Office of the Washington State Treasurer.
