About the Artwork

Artist Obie Simonis created this stainless steel sculpture for Eastmont High School. He designed the piece using three interlocking helixes. It is part of his body of spiral, circular, and linear abstract artworks.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Eastmont School District.

About the Artist

Obie Simonis creates free-standing and site-specific sculpture. Raised in Eastern Oregon, he first studied at Portland State University and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Oregon. He served as an artist-in-residence at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon in 1978. He later moved to Massachusetts, where he lives and works.
