About the Artwork
The Boy Who Was Raised by Sea Birds is a mixed media sculpture by artist Shelley Moore. It features the sculptural silhouette of a bird. It is painted with imagery of many birds singing to a man seen in profile. A bird's nest is placed at the head of the silhouette. The artist notes that she started creating this style of sculpture in 1987. She states, "The silhouettes have functioned as windows into microworlds (real or imagined) in which the painted images within the larger form tell a story."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Medical Lake School District.
