Luri I, 1995

Sidonie Caron
American (born 1932)

Location: Covington Middle School, Vancouver

About the Artwork

Artist Sidonie Caron created the painting Luri I by experimenting with a new painting technique. She created the artwork's intricate pattern using a silkscreen. She notes, "The method involved painting directly onto the silkscreen. Then by using a squeegee, I forced a transparent base over the dry paint. This pushed the paint through the holes in the nylon mesh of the screen. After some experimentation, I found that watercolor was the only paint to use."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Evergreen School District.
