About the Artwork

In the whimsical painting Loon Tale, artist Isabel Sim-Hamilton depicts a loon and a goose dressed in finery, interacting with a woman with a skeptical expression. Hamilton uses these imagined creatures in her artworks to explore how we communicate and relate to ourselves and our environment.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with South Seattle College.

About the Artist

Isabel Sim-Hamilton is a Seattle-based painter and printmaker. Born in Detroit, Michigan, she received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. She received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1975.
