Through a combination of wheel-thrown and hand-built approaches, Deborah Schwartzkopf's "Pitcher" encourages the viewer to reconsider objects of the everyday experience.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Peninsula College.

About the Artist

Deborah Schwartzkopf is a Seattle-based ceramic artist. She moved to Seattle in 2009, where she opened a communal pottery studio called Rat City Studios.
Schwartzkopf received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alaska in 2002. She received a Master of Fine Arts degree at Penn State in 2005. She has taught pottery at many institutions, including Ohio University, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and the University of Washington in Seattle.
