About the Artwork

Artists Bruce Andersen and Shannon Andersen created a site-specific artwork for Lakota Middle School to foster listening and reflection. Six concrete sitting spots form a circle surrounding a cut metal sculpture that includes animals symbolic of strength, wisdom, family, and aspiration. Bruce Andersen and Shannon Andersen are both non-Native artists.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Federal Way Public Schools.

About the Artist

Northwest artists Bruce Andersen and Shannon Andersen collaborate to create site-responsive sculptural installations. Their artwork "integrates innovative mediums, with natural light, shadow, landscape and the built environment to create compelling interactive installations. Our projects incorporate sustainable methods, with traditional fabrication techniques, responsive to the environmental texture and unique identity of their surroundings."
