About the Artwork

Highland Fling is a series of three wall-hung sculptures created by artist Anne Storrs for Shadle Park High School. The ponderosa pine tree, a native plant commonly found in Spokane, inspired her designs. In these playful sculptures, the pine cones dance the "Highland Fling." This Scottish dance consists of steps performed on one spot in four-four time.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Spokane Public Schools.
