About the Artwork
Ross Matteson depicts an osprey bird and two fish in a mix of metals. The sculpture represents the town of Granite Falls' history with natural resource extraction and its future as the scenic gateway to the North Cascades National Park, in Northern Washington.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Granite Falls School District.
About the Artist
Olympia, Washington-based artist Ross Matteson creates sculptures in a variety of media and for diverse public and private venues. He is a falconer, and his visual imagery is often inspired by birds and natural forms. He received his Bachelor of Arts from The Evergreen State College in Olympia.
