About the Artwork

Floater #1 is part of artist Denise Anderson's body of work that explores themes of inattention and the imbalance between different aspects of human development present in the modern world. She notes that the figure represents the animal, soulful, or spiritual aspects of human nature "suspended amidst the many forces acting upon us in contemporary life."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Lake Washington Institute of Technology.

About the Artist

Denise Anderson is a Seattle-based painter. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. She studied art in Mexico and Holland.
