About the Artwork

Artist Marilyn Starr Colvert created Following Moon using a layered screen printing process. This composition highlights rich colors and patterns. It is part of her body of work referencing patterned fabrics and oriental rugs. She notes, "My prints are small, without the immediate visual impact larger art has. Small works demand participation to be seen, they must be handled by the viewer's eyes. This is similar to the concentration required in making them and develops a shared experience between you viewing a print and my making it."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Arts Commission.

About the Artist

Marilyn Starr Colvert creates prints, fiber, and mixed-media artworks. Her works are included in the Missoula Art Museum collection. Previously based in Montana, she now lives in Arizona.
