About the Artwork

Crosswalk is part of artist James Pink's body of paintings featuring imagery of wolves. Myth and legends inspired these works, which he states give the compositions "metaphysical characteristics." This piece is his first to use artificial light within the painting. He continued to use an artificial light source in many other artworks. He notes that the glowing stoplight creates "a tense or eerie flavor in a night-time situation."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Department of Children, Youth, and Families.

About the Artist

Nevada-based artist James Pink creates narrative paintings, drawings, and prints. He has served as professor of art at the University of Oklahoma, Norman and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in education and a Master of Arts degree in art from Northern Illinois University. He received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of South Florida.
