About the Artwork
Artist Linda Kraus-Perez created the painting Ice by layering painted surfaces with textured caulk and encaustic wax. She notes that this technique requires experimentation, and being open to accidents and risk. The linear patterns and structure of this piece reference European medieval manuscripts (approximately 450-1450), Islamic architecture, and calligraphy. She describes the surface as "embellished with fragile and detailed marks reminiscent of the ancient marks of language."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Battle Ground Public Schools.
