About the Artwork

Yonder is a painting by artist Michael Brophy. It is an example of his body of work concerned with the interaction between man and his environment. A solo figure looking out at the natural landscape is a repeated motif in his painting. He notes, "Art is a conceit which contains truth and exposes reality for the paradox it is; known and oblique, actual and anecdotal. Through the means of painting, I hope to say something true."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Marysville School District.
