About the Artist

Ivan Salcido is a multidisciplinary artist whose works are deeply rooted in personal experience, family history, and Mesoamerican mythologies. His creative process also draws inspiration from collectibles, serving as a lens through which he explores themes of nostalgia, connection, and legacy. Through his art, Salcido reflects on cultural and familial bonds, intertwining stories from his Mexican heritage with his upbringing in El Paso, TX, and his life in the Pacific Northwest.
Salcido's works form a mosaic of personal and shared memories, acting as a bridge between past and present. They are infused with the power of remembrance and celebrate the resilience of familial and cultural heritage.
In addition to his art practice, Salcido is actively involved with a public art non-profit in Portland, where he curates and coordinates artworks for display in City and County buildings. He also plays a vital role in the preservation of outdoor public art under the organization's stewardship.
