About the Artwork
Ancient Lakes is part of artist Cynthia Krieble's body of impressionistic landscape paintings that explore the interplay of color, light, texture, and form present in the natural environment. She describes this painting as "a kind of rhapsody, inspired by the landscape, as well as an exploration of perception. Color, light, focus and texture are my tools for examining how the observed world and painted surface can shift."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Quincy School District.

Ellensburg, Central Washington-based artist Cynthia Krieble's impressionistic landscape paintings explore color and sensuality. They are characterized by rhythmic, gestural paint strokes.Krieble is Professor Emeritus at Central Washington University, where she taught painting and drawing for over twenty years.
