About the Artwork
Popsicle Eaters is a painting by artist Terry Furchgott. It is part of her body of work that focuses on our shared relationships. These works celebrate ethnic and cultural diversity while showing regular people's daily life. She states that this piece captures a moment in childhood where concerns of friendship take precedence over those of race. This piece is based on a photograph. She first created a watercolor underpainting, which she layered with oil pastel.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Tacoma Public Schools.

Terry Furchgott creates richly colorful figurative paintings, murals, and installations that explore the dynamics of human relationships and communities.
Furchgott received an honors degree in art history from Radcliffe College, Harvard University in Massachusetts, and studied at Camden Arts Center in London, England.
