Carol Summers
American (born 1925, died 2016)
Carol Summers (1925-2016) was a renowned Santa Cruz, California-based printmaker, specializing in woodcut prints. He is known for ground-breaking "monumental" woodcut prints and a specific method of relief printing for large-scale works.
Summers taught art at many institutions, including the Brooklyn Museum School of Art, Hunter College, Columbia University, and the School of Visual Arts (all in New York City). He studied painting and printmaking at Bard College in New York State from 1948 to 1951.
