Beyond the Canvas: The Science Within Art, curated by Kayli Wong

"In this web exhibition, we invite you to explore different pieces where art and science intersect. Many people feel conflicted about whether they are a 'math' person or an 'art' person, but these artworks serve as examples of the mix of both topics!

This collection explores the different ways in which science can inspire different art pieces, from large paintings inspired by math, to architectural sculptures that bend common laws of physics. This exhibition aims to break down the barriers between these seemingly disparate topics and show that they can coexist. Whether you are an aspiring STEM major, an aspiring artist, or simply someone with interest in creative pieces, 'Beyond the Canvas' invites you to discover these creative pieces!"

–This web exhibition was curated by Kayli Wong, a junior at Bellevue High School and part of the 2024 ArtsWA WAYAL team (March 2024).

The Washington Youth Arts Leadership (WAYAL) Program is a yearly cohort of youth and young adults (ages 16-19) from across Washington State. Youth arts leaders in the program explore the arts and cultural field, creative careers, and related policy.
