Poetry Month (April)
"Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility." –William Wordsworth, English poet, 1770-1850.
National Poetry Month takes place each April. It is a celebration of poetry introduced in 1996 and organized by the Academy of American Poets as a way to increase awareness and appreciation of poetry in the United States.
These artworks in Washington's State Art Collection highlight their special relationships to poetry and words. Enjoy!
