ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Artist Larry Shlim's photograph Florence, Italy 1977 captures a street scene outside of the Loggia dei Lanzi. The background features two sculptures: one of the Medici Lions, as well as the marble sculpture "Menelaus Carrying the Body of Patroclus."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Department of Corrections.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Artist Lawrence "Larry" Shlim is a Portland, Oregon-based photographer. He creates documentary and landscape images that capture his world travels. Born in Portland, Oregon, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington in 1976.
