Shadow of a Doubt, 1985

Robert Haft
(American, born 1949)

Location: Foothills Elementary, Buckley

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Shadow of a Doubt is part of photographer Robert Haft's longstanding series "The Terrors and Joys of Childhood" depicting a child's experience of life. This piece captures Haft's two year old daughter climbing rocks in only her socks. Her mother's arm is extended to protect her from falling, and Haft notes how in his daughter's expression he can see "a mixture of anger at being held and apprehension about the situation in general."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with White River School District.
