ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Untitled #5 is part of late artist Valdis Zarins' series of embossed, aluminum lithography plates. The series look at how simple lines and angles create and define space and depth on a reflective surface. He noted, "The raised embossed lines are capable under appropriate lighting conditions of capturing the source of light(s) as a luminous 'aura' that moves along the embossed ridge as the viewer moves across the picture plane left to right, etc."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Centralia School District.
