ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Lies You Tell Your Mother is part of a suite of four prints by artist Lawry Gold. The other titles are “Lies You Tell Yourself", "Lies You Tell Your Friends" and "Lies You Tell Your Dog.'' He describes these prints as semi-autobiographical. The detailed imagery features colorful geometric forms suggesting a staircase and window.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Ephrata School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Lawry Gold creates paintings, drawings, and prints. He lives and works on Vashon Island in South Puget Sound, Western Washington.
Gold has taught at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, The Evergreen State College in Olympia, the Bellevue Art Museum School (all in Western Washington), and the University of Wisconsin. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
