Bremerton is a large-scale ceramic tile mural created by artist George Johanson. The composition features imagery about Bremerton's history, landscape, and community. The imagery overlaps and intersects, representing how the past and the present are intertwined.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Portland, Oregon-based artist George Johanson creates paintings, prints, and ceramic artworks.
Born in Seattle, Johanson studied at the Museum Art School (now the Pacific Northwest College of Art) in Portland, Oregon, and continued his studies in New York City and London, England. He taught at the Pacific Northwest College of Art for 25 years, retiring in 1980. He was an Oregon Governor's Arts Award honoree in 1992.
