ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Five Minutes Till Show Time is part of artist Kathleen Coyle's group of mixed-media artworks that combine textile elements with wax-resist painting, printing, and collaged elements. This piece features a bright city scene with cat and fish motifs. Coyle notes that this piece depicts the cat as "an entertainer who just jumped through the window of her dressing room to learn that there is only five minutes left till show time."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Yakima School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Kathleen Coyle is a Seattle-based artist who creates textiles, mixed media artworks, and jewelry.
Coyle attended Kent State University as a Design and Craft major from 1975 to 1977. In the summer of 1977, she traveled around the United States before landing in Seattle. In 1982, she graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Textile Design.
