ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Primavera is an abstract sculpture by artist Elizabeth Sandvig. It was created from polyester resin. The composition features concentric circles in many colors. The title refers to the Spanish and Italian word for the spring season.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Patrol.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Seattle-based painter and printmaker Elizabeth Sandvig creates expressive artworks inspired by dreams and imagination. In her own words "I am always looking for some mysterious in-between place where ideas and images come together together to show me a new exciting path to follow."
Sandvig received a Bachelor of Arts from Pomona College in California and her Master of Arts from Radcliffe College, Harvard University in Massachusetts. She received the 2007 Twining Humber Award for lifetime artistic achievement.
