ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Gerard Tsutakawa created the welded bronze sculpture Morpheus to evoke male, female, and animal forms. Square shapes represent masculinity while the circular elements represent feminine.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Issaquah School District.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Pacific Northwest artist Gerard Tsutakawa creates abstract and figurative sculptures for public spaces. He apprenticed for his father, celebrated sculptor George Tsutakawa, and notes that his designs are a "confluence of cultures and traditions of the Pacific Rim."
