ABOUT THE ARTWORK
LaPrea and Her Mother Read is a pastel drawing by late artist Louise Williams. It is inspired by her experiences as an artist, teacher, and mother. It celebrates our interconnectedness and a love of reading. She noted, "Reading has always been very important to me as a pleasurable activity, a way to gain information and understand the world. I know many single parent families, and this image is modeled on one of my favorite of such loving families."
