ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The photograph Aftermath was taken by artist William Self in the Canadian Rockies. Depicting burned pine trees in the snow, this piece is part of Self's exploration of abstract composition. Discussing his process, the photographer notes, "I always look for a composition that captures a smaller aspect of the whole which includes dramatic lines that work to magnify the impact of textures, subtle values of light, and contrasting colors or forms."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Shoreline Community College.
