ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Backyard - Winter is part of artist Cynthia Krieble's body of impressionistic landscape paintings that explore the interplay of color, light, texture, and form present in the natural environment. Using richly contrasting hues of blue and white, this piece depicts a snowy backyard criss-crossed by the shadow of bare trees.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Spokane School District.

Ellensburg, Central Washington-based artist Cynthia Krieble's impressionistic landscape paintings explore color and sensuality. They are characterized by rhythmic, gestural paint strokes.
Krieble is Professor Emeritus at Central Washington University, where she taught painting and drawing for over twenty years.
