ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Shadow Trees was taken by photographer Carolyn D. Hoffman in 1983 and captures the scarred landscape several years after the Mount St. Helens volcanic eruption. This image was processed to increase the detail of shadowed areas. This technique highlights the subtle textures of the natural landscape.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Grays Harbor College.
