ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Head Chairs are part of artist Ries Niemi's body of sculptural artworks that also serve as functional objects. Interested in the human form, Niemi hand-bent steel so that the chairs each have a unique face and personality.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Yakima School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Artist and craftsman Ries Niemi creates sculptures and public installations using industrial fabrication techniques and industrial materials such as metal, wood, and plastics. He lives and works in the small town of Bow, Northwestern Washington.
