ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The Sun Shines Awhile Every Day is a large-scale textile installation by artist Louise Kodis. It is comprised of forty fabric banners of various sizes and colors. She installed the banners to cascade above a balcony and mezzanine overlooking the lobby of Meredith Hill Elementary. The theme of nature connect the banners. Their imagery include blossoms, clouds, wind, rain, and leaves.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Federal Way School District.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Spokane, Eastern Washington-based artist Louise Kodis creates wall hangings and installations made from colorful textiles.
Kodis studied at the San Francisco Art Institute in California. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington State University in Pullman, Eastern Washington, in 1964.
